General Advice
Ensure that your car is regularly serviced and well maintained.
Things to Keep in the Car
Contact details for your motoring breakdown assistance organisation, e.g. The RAC, if you are a member.
A torch.
Some change or a 'phone card, if you don't have a mobile 'phone.
Paper and pencil.
Warning triangle.
Fluorescent or reflective armband(s), jacket or other item of clothing.
Fire extinguisher approved for motoring use.
Setting Out on Long, Winter Journeys
In addition to the above, you should think about taking :
A mat or sack to help tyres get extra grip if stuck in snow.
A shovel.
Warm clothing, including gloves.
Wellingtons or other waterproof boots.
Screen de-icer.
